"A friend of the Community"
Philanthropia, or humanitarianism, literally translated in Greek means "love for mankind". At bodyceuticals, we believe in this and conduct our business by it. We gratefully donate a portion of every purchase of the products we make to support others in need in our local community and around the world.
We support and are actively involved in a number of Pacific Northwest charities including The Seattle St. Philaret Society Homeless Program. Every day, people in our area are homeless and hungry. In our local county alone, it's estimated that 9,000 people live without permanent homes. There are many reasons for being homeless, including an increase of domestic violence, addiction, low wages, lack of affordable housing and even a growing number of U.S. veterans who end up without a home. Through the St. Philaret Program, each month, we provide warm nourishing meals, blankets and clothing to hundreds of individuals - some of whom hold a job and are just getting the help they need from various local services to get off the street.
We also are involved with the Philoptochos "Friend of the poor" charity which serves Childhaven, First Place School for Homeless Children, Seattle Times Fund for the Needy, local women's shelters, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and NW Camp Agape Kids 'n Cancer Program.
The Philoptochos charity has a deep rooted tradition of giving dating back hundreds of years. Today they are the second largest women's philanthropic organization in the United States in terms of money donated to charitable causes and work with international agencies such as UNICEF and The Children's Medical Fund, which assists children with life-threatening illnesses such as AIDS, cancer, diabetes and kidney disease. An Emergency Fund offers assistance to victims of disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, fires, refugees, hunger, etc. In recent years, the Philoptochos supported the Asia Disaster Relief Fund and tsunami survivors, as well as Hurricane Katrina flood victims.
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me." Matthew 25:35-36
